Where are you located?
My studio is at 305 E. Chapel Hill St, Durham. I'm at the corner of E. Chapel Hill and Foster. My entrance is on the rear of the building (the alley side) off of Foster directly across from the Marriott.
Do you have parking?
There is a small lot directly behind the studio. You may get lucky there but many businesses use that lot. There are metered spots on E. Chapel Hill St as well as on Foster. There is also a pay garage at the end of the block down Foster.
Are you the only photographer?
YES! You're hiring me! I have assistants that I'll bring on large location jobs, but otherwise you'll be working directly with me. I truly believe that nobody could repeat what I do. Don't be fooled into shooting with assistants or associate photographers.
Do you offer discounts?
The thing about being the best is that I stay very busy. For that reason, I only offer discounts for return clients or groups of 3 or more. Want that discount? Bring 2 friends or come back a 2nd time.
What should I wear to my headshot session?
Fit: An ill fitting garment is a deal breaker. You'll look thinner in something more fitted as opposed to something boxy. Formality: Think meeting or audition Colors: Avoid the combination of black and white. Black is fine, white is fine, just don't wear them together. Avoid the color red. Otherwise go with what you like. I personally like shades of grey and jewel tones. Jewelry: Think studs and pearls Patterns: Leave them at home Final thought: Bring extra stuff. Better to have and not need than to need and not have.
Do you shoot inside or outside?
Yes. I primarily shoot in the studio but will venture outside to shoot a more cinematic style headshot from time to time.
Whats with all the tiles in your studio?
The building my studio is in was originally The Palms Restaurant. From 1932 to 1982 they served Durham "sizzling steaks" at "popular prices". My studio was originally the restaurant's kitchen.
You don't sound like your from North Carolina. Where are you from?
I'm originally from Baltimore (go O's). My family and I moved to North Carolina in the Summer of 2017.
